Custom Mudrooms in Utah — The Drop Zone Your Family Actually Uses.

Bench seats, cubbies, hooks, and lockers — built for the door everyone comes through.

Stop the avalanche at the door.

In Utah, the mudroom does more work than any other room its size. Snow boots in January, cleats in April, hiking shoes in July, ski gear in December — and backpacks, coats, dog leashes, and keys every single day. Most Utah homes either don't have a mudroom or have one that's a bench and a few hooks that stopped being enough two kids ago.

A Cutting Edge mudroom gives every family member a landing zone. Individual cubbies or lockers — one per person — so coats, bags, and shoes each have a home. A built-in bench with shoe storage underneath. Hooks at the right height for adults and kids. Upper cabinets or a shelf for seasonal items. The goal is simple: walk in the door, drop everything in its place, walk into the house without a trail of gear behind you.

We build mudrooms the same way we build closets: measured to your exact entryway, manufactured in our Orem shop, installed by our own crew. Whether you have a dedicated mudroom, a garage entry hall, a side-entry vestibule, or a front-hall closet you want to convert, we design for the space you actually have — not a Pinterest photo of a space you don't.

The build quality is the same across the board: commercial-grade melamine, soft-close drawers if you want them, coat hooks that don't pull out of the wall after six months. And because we're not a franchise, we can adjust sizing and configuration to fit families of two or families of eight. A designer comes to your entry, measures, and talks through who uses the door and what they bring through it. 3D rendering and a written quote within a few days.

How it works

  1. We visit and measure

A designer measures your entryway or mudroom space, notes the door swing, flooring transition, and any obstructions, and talks through who uses this door and what they carry.

  2. We design and quote

Within a few days you get a 3D rendering showing cubbies, bench, hooks, and upper storage — plus a written, itemized quote.

  3. We build it in our Orem shop

Bench frames, cubby dividers, locker doors, and shelving are CNC-cut, edge-banded, and hand-checked.

  4. We install it ourselves

Most mudroom installs are completed in a single day. Lifetime warranty on the install.

Common questions

How much does a custom mudroom cost in Utah?

Every mudroom is different — the price depends on the entryway size, how many family members need a cubby or locker, and the finish level. A bench-and-hooks setup is the most affordable starting point. Full mudrooms with individual cubbies, a bench, and upper cabinets cost more. We itemize every quote so you can scale the project to your family and your budget.

I don't have a dedicated mudroom — can you build one into my garage entry or front hall?

Yes. Many of our mudroom projects are retrofits — we build into garage entry hallways, side-entry vestibules, front-hall closet conversions, and even open foyer walls. If there's a wall near the door people use most, we can usually design a functional drop zone.

How many cubbies or lockers do I need?

One per person is the standard — each family member gets their own section for coat, bag, shoes, and daily gear. For a family of four, that's typically a 6–8 foot run. We can adjust cubby width based on how much gear each person brings through the door.

Do you build mudroom benches with storage underneath?

Yes. The bench is designed with shoe cubbies, pull-out drawers, or open shelving underneath — whatever works for how your family stores shoes. Most families want open cubbies for daily shoes and a closed section for off-season footwear.

What about hooks — do they actually hold up?

Our hooks are mounted into solid panel backing, not drywall. They're rated for coats, backpacks, and heavy winter gear without pulling out. We install them at two heights when kids are in the house — adult height and kid height — so everyone can reach their own hook.

Can you match my home's trim or cabinetry style?

Yes. Mudrooms in visible entryways often need to match the home's existing trim profile, paint color, or cabinetry style. We can match shaker profiles, raised panels, crown molding, and paint colors so the mudroom looks built-in, not bolted-on.

How long does a mudroom install take?

Most mudroom installs are completed in a single day. From design consultation to finished install, plan on 3–5 weeks.
